PERSPECTIVES – IRAQ

A mannequin is represented as a symbolism of how women are being treated in the middle eastern region starting from Iraq and how the people and community around is controlling them regardless their feelings and presence to impress the society and discussing many social problems women are suffering from in general.


THE SHAVE – UAE

Duration: 10 minutes


A coming-of-age story where the inability to age due to a medical condition puts Mohammed in an ongoing struggle to prove his manhood in the face of masculine stereotypes.


LUMINERY – JORDAN

A poetic portrait of a blind father with a bright perspective on life, who is strongly determined to deliver his message to the world.


WHY IS MY GRANDFATHER’S BED IN THE LIVING ROOM? – UAE

Duration: 7 minutes


An Emirati family lost their ancestral house to community development plans aimed at modernizing the city. As they recall the sudden loss of the family house, it is apparent that a century old wooden bed, the only tangible memory that remains, is a poignant feature of their story. The attachment of both the house and the bed are intertwined together in the bittersweet memories of the family members.


MAKR – UAE

SHEIKH, a fake exorcist who recently lost his daughter and with it his trust in God, visits the home of KHALID, a man who claims his wife is possessed by a Djinn. He soon finds out that things are not as they seem.

TUK TUK – EGYPT

After her husband abandoned her and illegally fled the country, Walaa’s only way to secure income for her family was to drive a Tuk-tuk in a male dominated environment where women struggle. At the risk of being ridiculed, harassed and unaccepted while drowning in debt she embarks on a journey to fight for her livelihood.


THE SILENCE – USA

Showing an entire lifetime in a short animation, SILENCE dramatizes fatherhood, showing the joys of raising a family and the tragedy of losing what you love most.


MILA – USA

Duration: 20 minutes


MILA is a war story that takes on a child's perspective. Inspired by World War II stories from the director's mother, the character of Mila represents the best of humanity. Although she has lost everything - her family, her house, her peace - she still clings to hope. With a little more than imagination and humanity, Mila manages to profoundly impact others, including a caring stranger who saves her.
